20 Miler

On Labor Day we went as a family on a 20 mile bike ride.  It was a fantastic day.  The weather was beautiful, and the ride was amazing.  All the kids did great.  Daniel did get to ride in the bike trailer.  Rick got to pull him : ).  We went on the Rock Island Trail, and because of the new portion of the trail, we were able to leave from our house on our bikes.  We rode 10 miles out, to Dunlap, and rode back.  Before we left we picked up Subway sandwiches for our picnic lunch.  Don't ask me what Dallin's doing in the picnic picture.  He's just being Dallin, that's all.

This picture is in front of the tunnel that goes under Route 6 on our way back home.  We almost lost the lens cap as a result of this picture.  We put the camera on the top of a pole, or stump (I can't remember), and when we picked it up, we left the lens cap.  After going for awhile (at least a mile, probably close to 2), we realized it.  I rode back to see if I could find it, and I did!!  What a blessing!

Fall Soccer

I have so many things I have not blogged about.  I think I'll just go through my photos, share a few and write just a little, to document (my version of scrapbooking), rather than write a lengthy blog post.

Daniel played fall soccer, and had a lot of fun.  He has really improved, made some real contributions to the team, and scored his first goals (milkshake time)!!!  He and his buddy Darren (in the last picture) were the top scorers, and there were several games where any goals scored for their team were either by Darren or Daniel.  Do you see Daniel's blue shorts?  Don't you think red ones would look better?  So do I.  He has them.  Every game I tried to convince him that the red ones would look better, but he didn't want to wear them.  He never could tell me why either.  Once or twice he wore them, but of course I didn't have the camera with me then.  I guess I've learned by #5 that the color of shorts doesn't really matter and to just let it go.  *Sigh*  Most importantly, he had a great time.  One of my favorite things to watch was whenever he, or anyone on the team, did something well, Daniel would run by his coach and give him a running high five. He's certainly enthusiastic, and competitive too. 

General Conference

As always, Generel Conference was a welcome delight, filling my bucket which had somehow gotten depleted again over the last 6 months.  I have decided that as I review the talks from this Conference, I will try to apply what I have learned and come up with something that I will DO as a result.  This morning I listened to Richard G. Scott's talk on the scriptures.  I come away from it with a greater resolve to improve my scripture study.  I also want to memorize scripture.  So, I'm going to start with the seminary scripture mastery scriptures that were once lodged in my brain, and might even still be tucked way back in there....So, if you'd like to join me, this week's scripture is 2 Nephi 2:27, and will be posted on the sidebar throughout the week.
