Reconstitution
Rick is a man of many talents. But one of his hidden talents is reconstituting leftovers. Many of you know that he is an excellent cook, but a unique cooking talent he has is taking leftovers in the fridge and turning them into something truly delicious. Last night he got home from work, and I really didn't have a plan for dinner. He said "How bout I combine some of the stuff in the fridge?". He pulled out the leftover pork roast from Sunday, some plain white rice, some Mexican rice, and part of a can on tomatoes. He heated some oil in a skillet, added some onion and garlic, and threw the rest in (he cut the pork roast into small cubes). He added some Cajun seasoning, fresh cilantro, decided some corn and black beans would go well in the dish, and here you go - dinner!!
It was really good!! Oh, and of course he shredded some cheese to melt on the top. Thanks for dinner, Rick!! You're awesome : ).

No More Binkies!!
Just an update to let you know that Daniel left out two more binkies for the binky fairy, and he is now officially binky free!!! He made two more trips to the store, purchasing a package of M&Ms and some cookies one day, and a small knight on a horse the other day. It hasn't been smooth sailing, but he IS getting used to sleeping without it. Mostly I have to accept the idea that naptime is gone. He occaionally still falls asleep in the afternoon, but most days there is no nap. I count myself lucky that he napped as long as he did.

Binky Fairy
Spurred by a visit to the orthodontist yesterday, where we learned that Audri (who had a binky when she slept until she was 4 1/2) will be getting an expander, the binky fairy visited Daniel's room last night. Daniel has more than one binky, and at the start of the night, he decided to put the two he currently can find out for the binky fairy. We told him that the binky fairy would then leave money for him to take to the store to buy a toy or some candy. At about 10:30, when he was still awake and I was very tired, Daniel decided to leave just ONE of the binkys, and that he would use the other one. At that point, I thought that was a great idea. This morning he was very excited to take the money from the binky fairy, combined with a little bit that he had in his bank to the store. We went to Big Lots where he found this cool set of Army guys!! He came right home to play with them. Hopefully this will be exciting enough that he'll choose to put his other binky out soon.
*Incidentally, Dallin's brain went right to work as we discussed the binky fairy at the dinner table. He asked, "How much does a binky cost?". We assured him the binky fairy would only come for children who actually used one, and she/he WOULD know the difference!!! Nice try, Dallin!! Maybe there's a clean room fairy, or a brush your teeth fairy, or a .... You get the idea.
American Idol
So, this is the first season of American Idol that I've watched from the start. I watched last season from the final 12? thru to the end. Anyway, if any of you watch it, and want to get in on some online discussion, check out the blog my brother-in-law Ed created. http://americanidoled.blogspot.com/
He has invited anyone that wants to, to join in the discussion. The more the merrier!!! You can go there to read my comments on last night's performances.

Valentine's Day
Rick and I got to go out for V'tines Day. Some friends in the ward invited us to go to the Symphony with them. They made dinner at their house, and it was really yummy. Then we drove downtown to listen to the Peoria Symphony. The guest performance was amazing. It was a group called "Time for Three"- three young guys, two violins, one double string bass. It was really great music. Check them out on YouTube. The Symphony was good too : ). And, of course the best thing was spending time with my Valentine : ).

Dailie- Through the Years
Yesterday was Dailie's birthday, and I thought it would be fun to post some pictures of her. It is such a pain to post multiple pictures on Blogger. I would like to know how to do it without spending FOREVER!! In the end I decided to do several posts, since it was hard to manipulate so many in one post. It was still good, because I got a lot of pictures scanned into the computer. Enjoy the pictures of my Dailie doll.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAILIE!!!
Today is Dailie's 12th birthday!!! I really wanted to scan in some pictures of her as a baby (that was BEFORE digital cameras), and a little girl with TONS of curly hair. I may still do that tomorrow. Today's a little crazy, but I wanted to at least post something on the actual day. Dailie recently got glasses, so here's a very current picture of my darling Dailie. I love her and am so glad she is my daughter. I also can hardly believe that she is now old enough to be in Young Women. Wow!! Happy Birthday, Dailie!!!
