Your first studio had four chambers,
Dancing your way into my heart
The day you came from me.
You were in my arms,
My mind glanced ahead
And tried to see the girl,
The woman that you would be.
We took you home.
You grew.
You imagined.
You danced.
In classes, the living room,
With Daddy, in the park.
Anywhere you were,
There was dance.
Spinning, twirling, leaping, tapping
Until one day,
You were on your toes.
Reaching even higher.
New struggles, new beauty.
The poise, the elegance, the grace,
Dancing, living, being,
Your life is full of beauty.
Making the most of the higher vision
You are granted on your toes.
I cannot watch without emotions brimming.
You are my tiny dancer
The little girl I once observed
On the stage, the studio, the kitchen floor,
Is now more wondrous than I could have imagined.
Spinning, twirling, leaping, tapping
Momentum gaining as you twirl
On your toes
Farther from my reach
Deeper into my heart.
At some point after I wrote the poem Wings, inspired by Dallin, I decided I would write another poem, inspired by Dailie. I'd like to think that eventually I will write one inspired by each of my children, but I don't want to make any promises. Forced creativity doesn't always turn out the best. I never tire from watching Dailie dance. I love to watch her, and I love to see the joy it brings to her. I have tried to capture her beautiful spirit in these words. I hope you enjoy.
