A Winning Day!!

This morning I came down the stairs and announced: Today is a day for winning!! 
I am a prophetess : ).
Eliza's Destination Imagination team competed in the Regional Tournament, and as 3rd graders competing against other teams made up of 4th and 5th graders, they took first place!!!  They will be competing in the State Tournament April 9.  Unfortunately, I did not take the camera, so, no photos.

While Eliza and I were waiting for the awards ceremony for her competition, the rest of the family left.  Dailie went to hang out with a friend so they could get ready for the Stake Super Saturday (their first stake dance!!!!).  Rick, Dallin, Audri and Daniel went to watch THE GAME.  BYU vs. San Diego State.  I instructed Rick to send me updates throughout the game.  I was bummed that I was missing it.  The only time BYU was behind, was at the very beginning, when SDSU went up 2-0.  What a game!!  They did it again!!

Later in the evening, Rick and I went to pick up Dallin and Dailie from the Super Saturday.  We arrived about 25 minutes before it ended, and had a lot of fun, "spying" on them, watching them have a great time with great people.  It was great to see them dancing and having a enjoying themselves. 

What a winning day!

Good Stuff

I just read this in an interview with a mom on The Mormon Women Project, a blog I read, and I loved it so much I wanted to share it immediately. It captures a lot of what I've learned as a mom, and what has been reinforced with me this year as I have had all of my children in school. If I could go back and give myself advice at the time when I was home with 3 kids, hardly leaving the house, and sleep deprived, this is right along the lines of what I would say:



"There’s such a complete upheaval of life when couples start a family—when kids are small, it seems that they’ll always be with us and always be young. But the days of cuddling and crying and hugging and tantrums and everything else don’t last. Every day with our kids is a gift. What seeds are we planting now for our kids to take with them when they leave us?"

Maybe the Groundhog was Right

On Groundhog's Day, this is what things were looking like around here.  It was a blizzard, dumped 15 inches of snow in 24 hours, and the kids had 4 days off of school.  As you can imagine, I had difficulty believing our furry friend when he said we would have an early Spring.

However, today it was 40 degrees by 9 am, and Thursday the high is 61.  Maybe that groundhog knows what he's talking about.....  I certainly hope so.  This little taste of Spring is definitely lifting my spirits.

Happy Birthday, Dailie!!

Today my baby girl is 14.  If you are a Mormon, you realize the signifigance of this age.  If you are not, let me explain.  At 14, Dailie can now attend the Church Youth dances, and believe me, she has been counting down the days.  Her first will be Feb. 26.
